What this involves

If you are putting capital into Chile — buying into a company, founding one, or acquiring property with a commercial purpose — the investment route can be stronger than an employment-based visa. You are not dependent on an employer, and the permit is tied to something you control.

It is also the route where the immigration file and the corporate file have to be built together. Migration looks at whether the investment is real, operative and capable of sustaining you. A company that exists on paper but has no activity, no accounting and no bank movement rarely supports a visa, however well drafted its bylaws are.

How much do I need to invest?

There is no single published figure that guarantees approval. What is assessed is whether the investment is genuine, operative and sufficient to sustain you and any dependents — an amount that makes sense for a consulting company is not the same as one for a hospitality project. We give you a realistic read for your specific project before you commit funds.

Can I buy property and get residency?

Purchasing a home for your own use is generally not, by itself, an investment that supports residency. Property acquired as part of a commercial activity — with the operation, accounting and revenue that implies — is a different case. The distinction is about economic activity, not the size of the purchase.

Do I need to move to Chile immediately?

The permit assumes a real link with Chile, and permanent residency later requires effective presence. Many investors begin with a period of frequent travel and consolidate residence over time. We map what your presence needs to look like so the renewal and the residency application are not compromised.

Can my family come with me?

Yes. Dependents can apply on the strength of your permit, with the relationship documented to Chilean standards. It is more efficient to plan the family applications alongside yours than to add them afterwards.
